2010 Tournament Information


4th Annual International Israel Ice Hockey Tournament
Sponsored by the Israel Recreational Hockey Association

Tuesday, Jan. 26 through Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010
Location: Metulla, Israel



Guide Lines:

  • Come as an individual
  • Come as a team
  • Adults 35 and over with up to 5 players (one line) under 35 per team
  • Woman hockey players are welcome to participate
  • All levels – beginners, intermediate and advanced players
  • Non-contact “fun” tournament/games
  • Uniform jerseys, tee shirts, caps, for all participants
  • Optional guided tour of Northern Israel
  • Limited number of players so sign up early or see you at the next tournament

There will be a maximum of six (6) teams competing in this annual tournament sponsored by the Israel Recreational Hockey Association:

  • USA – Canada – Israel - Europe

Each team will be limited to 15 skaters and up to three goalies. Players not from any of the above locations will be placed on a space available team depending on their skill level. Non-players such as coaches, family members and all other interested observers can attend at half price which will include everything tournament participants get except playing time, trophies and jerseys.

Please note that medical insurance coverage in Israel is required for all players.

International Ice Hockey Arena, Canada Center (English)(Hebrew), Metulla, Israel

The Canada Centre, one of the main attractions to Metulla, is in the heart of the community with a commanding view of the Galilee. It is one of Israel's major tourist attractions and the largest sports centre in this part of the world, providing high quality sports and leisure activities.
Additions and improvements are constantly being made to The Canada Centre so check the website for current information.




Purpose:
  • To raise awareness of Ice Hockey in Israel
  • To have fun playing AK’s from other countries
  • To help the Israel Recreational Hockey Association expand its activities
  • To help the Association acquire status and recognition among new olim
  • To give you another excuse to visit the Holy Land

This is a non-contact “fun” international ice hockey tournament.

Everyone is a winner! Team jerseys, t-shirts, hockey (baseball) caps, will be given to all participants and the knowledge that Israel hockey will develop and flourish in the future.

In addition, you will experience:

  • Camaraderie – meeting and speaking with players who made Aliyah
  • Playing against players from other countries
  • Uniform jersey and name on permanent tournament plaque displayed at the Canada Center
  • Tee shirt, hockey (baseball) cap, and a wonderful time for all



  • Cost:
    • Tournament cost per player- $350 when you sign up by Sept 15, 2009; $400 by November 1, 2009; $450 after November 1, 2009
    • Non-players (spouse, friends, supporters, tourists, observers, etc.) – $150
    • Children - $50 per child over 4 and under 16 up to a maximum of $100 for all non playing children. So bring the entire mishpacha
    • Donations – gratefully accepted

    This price includes:

    • Final awards kosher banquet for everyone
    • All ice time and games except for non players
    • Entrance to The Canada Centre for players



    Housing:

    We are going to be staying at K'Far Giladi.
    We have negotiated the following tournament pricing in Israeli Shekels:
    If you are a tourist and have the slip from customs when entering Israel, Just present it at checkin/out and you will receive a 15.5% discount on your room.

    • Single room: 336 NIS (Thursday night cost is 360 nis)
    • Two to a room: 420 NIS (Thursday night cost is 480 NIS)
    • Three to a room: 598 NIS (Thursday night cost is 684NIS)
